Introduction – include what, where, when and the unit of measurement  (www.um)

The data is provided as a line graph, which compares the average price in US dollars of digital cameras and mobile phones (and smartphones after 2009) over a 10 year period between 2006 and 2016.

Overview  - describe what happens from 2006 to 2016 OVERALL.

Overall, it can clearly be seen that while the average price to buy a digital camera fell dramatically by over 50% over the ten years being compared, the cost of purchasing a mobile phone or smartphone soared rapidly to more than double its 2006 price and was almost twice as expensive as a digital camera by 2016.

Paragraph 1.  Choose 2 points in the timeline and describe in words and quote the data.

In more detail, in 2006, digital cameras were by far the most expensive at just under four hundred and seventy US dollars ($469), whereas the price of mobile phones at this time were much lower at almost two-hundred and twenty US dollars ($219). However, four years later the price of both commodities had almost converged as while the price of mobile phones increased considerably to $319, the average cost of a digital camera became more affordable when the price had fallen to just under three-hundred and fifty US dollars ($349)

Paragraph 2.  Choose 2 points in the timeline and describe in words and quote the data.

Not surprisingly, after the introduction of touch-screen smartphones, the average price of a mobile smartphone sky-rocketed to an all-time high of just under $600 US dollars ($589), whereas the average cost of a digital camera declined to an all-time low of less than $200 ($195). Finally, by the end of the period, the price of smartphones pulled-back considerably to just under $450 ($449), and the corresponding price of digital cameras recovered marginally to $229 US dollars.      Band 9.
