Introduction (Identify what, where, when the data is about & the unit of measurement)
The data is shown as a table, which compares (in percentages) the attendance of high school students at different schools in England and Germany over a 20-year period from 2005 to 2015.
Overview (A short description of what you can see GENERALLY in the data - The GENERAL TREND)
Overall, it can clearly be seen that while in Germany, public government school (PGS) attendance fell considerably over the two decades to 2015, in England PGS attendance increased marginally. Notably, attendance at semi private schools (SPS) was higher in England in 2005 than in Germany, but by 2015, this had changed.
Paragraph 1 (Contrast 2 or 3 main features / use some complex sentences of contrast)
In more detail, although far more German high school students attended PGS than English students in 1995, at just over half (52%) compared to about a quarter (24%) respectively, by 2015 the difference had narrowed; German attendance at PGS dropped to just under two-thirds (38%) while English student attendance at PGS grew slightly to 27%.
Paragraph 2 (Contrast 2 or 3 MORE main features / use some complex sentences of contrast)
Interestingly, the numbers of English students going to semi-independents schools (SIS) was by far the highest in 1995 at more than half (52%) of all 11 to 16 year old pupils, but this declined marginally to 39% by the end of the period. Conversely, German attendance at SIS rose from just under a fifth (18%) to nearly a third (31%). Unfortunately, Germany showed that specialist schools had fallen by two-thirds over the 20 years, whereas England had nearly doubled its provision from 6 to 11%. Band 8.5.
